31st May 2021 the government reformed the valuations of whiplash claims so any accident after this date will be subject to the new reforms when putting in a claim for compensation. The amount you can get for a whiplash claim has been reduced as part of these reforms and ranges from £240 to £4,345, you can see a full breakdown of amounts on the Gov website.
One way is claiming through a new self-service online 'portal' system called the
Official Injury Claim (OIC). If you choose to use this portal, this means you wont have legal representation and will have to deal with the claim yourself.
